SMS Terms & Conditions

These SMS Terms & Conditions explain how Credit Stoppers may send text messages when you provide a mobile number and affirmatively consent to receive the applicable category of messages.

Effective: August 3, 2023

1. SMS Program Description

Credit Stoppers may operate one or more text-messaging programs for consumers who provide a mobile telephone number and consent to receive messages.

Depending on the consent you provide, messages may include:

  • Credit-review follow-up.
  • Appointment scheduling and reminders.
  • Account or service updates.
  • Requested customer-support communications.
  • Educational information related to credit and financial readiness.
  • Marketing or promotional messages, if you separately opt in to marketing texts.

2. Consent to Receive Text Messages

By checking an applicable SMS consent box, submitting your mobile number, or otherwise providing affirmative consent, you authorize Credit Stoppers to send text messages to the mobile number you provided for the purposes described in that consent.

Consent to receive marketing or promotional text messages is optional and is not a condition of purchasing or using Credit Stoppers services.

Consent to receive non-marketing service-related messages is limited to the purposes described in the applicable consent language.

3. Automated Technology

Text messages may be sent using automated technology, including an automatic telephone dialing system, CRM platform, messaging platform, or similar technology, to the extent permitted by applicable law and consistent with the consent you provide.

4. Message Frequency

Message frequency varies based on your interactions with Credit Stoppers, the services or information you request, appointment activity, account activity, and whether you elect to receive promotional communications.

Credit Stoppers does not guarantee a fixed number of messages per week or month.

5. Message and Data Rates

Message and data rates may apply according to the terms of your mobile carrier and wireless plan. You are responsible for any charges imposed by your carrier.

Credit Stoppers does not charge a separate fee merely for receiving SMS messages unless a specific service agreement expressly states otherwise.

6. How to Opt Out

You may opt out of text messages at any time by replying STOP to a Credit Stoppers text message.

After you reply STOP, you may receive a final confirmation message stating that you have been unsubscribed. After that confirmation, Credit Stoppers will stop sending messages covered by that opt-out unless you later provide new consent or otherwise initiate a new permitted communication.

Additional opt-out keywords may be honored by the messaging platform, but STOP is the primary opt-out instruction.

7. How to Get Help

Reply HELP for assistance.

8. Marketing Messages

If you separately consent to marketing or promotional text messages, Credit Stoppers may send messages concerning offers, program updates, educational resources, promotions, or other marketing content.

Marketing consent is separate from general service-related communications. You may decline marketing texts and still submit a credit review, purchase a service, or use Credit Stoppers services.

9. Service-Related Messages

If you consent to non-marketing text messages, Credit Stoppers may send communications related to a request you made, your credit review, appointments, service status, support, or account-related information.

Service-related consent does not automatically authorize unrelated promotional or marketing text messages.

10. Mobile Information and Privacy

Credit Stoppers handles personal information associated with the SMS program in accordance with the Privacy Policy.

Mobile information, SMS opt-in data, and text-message consent information will not be sold or shared with third parties or affiliates for their own marketing or promotional purposes.

Credit Stoppers may disclose mobile information to service providers that help deliver or support the SMS program, including communications platforms, telecommunications providers, CRM providers, hosting providers, and technology vendors, only as reasonably necessary to provide those services or comply with applicable law.

11. Carriers and Message Delivery

Wireless carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Message delivery may be affected by carrier availability, network conditions, device settings, mobile-number status, or other circumstances outside Credit Stoppers' control.

Credit Stoppers does not guarantee that every message will be delivered or received.

12. Mobile Number Responsibility

By providing a mobile number, you represent that you are the subscriber, customary user, or otherwise authorized to provide that number and receive messages at that number.

If your mobile number changes, is reassigned, or is no longer under your control, you should opt out before discontinuing use of the number or notify Credit Stoppers promptly.

13. Eligibility

The Credit Stoppers SMS program is intended for individuals who are legally capable of providing the applicable consent and who are using a supported mobile number in a jurisdiction where the messaging program is offered.

14. No Purchase Requirement for Marketing Consent

You do not need to agree to receive marketing or promotional text messages in order to purchase or use Credit Stoppers services.

15. Revocation of Consent

You may revoke consent to receive SMS messages at any time by using the opt-out method described above. Credit Stoppers will honor valid opt-out requests within the period required by applicable law and platform processing.

16. Changes to the SMS Program

Credit Stoppers may modify, suspend, or discontinue all or part of the SMS program at any time, subject to applicable law.

We may also update these SMS Terms & Conditions to reflect changes in the program, technology, service providers, business practices, or legal requirements.

Updated terms will be posted on this page.

17. General Terms

These SMS Terms are incorporated into and should be read together with the Credit Stoppers Terms & Conditions.

If these SMS Terms conflict with the general Terms & Conditions specifically regarding text messaging, these SMS Terms control for the SMS program to the extent permitted by applicable law.
